What else is the Garden City Conservation Society up to?
Pocket Forest
A pocket forest, specifically called a Miyawaki forest, is a method of forestry that accelerates dense forest growth within a small space. Not only would we have a beautiful forest, but it would provide a lush habitat for our local ecosystems. We, the Garden City Conservation Society, have teamed up with Richmond Secondary School and local artists and environmentalists to create the first one in BC for Fall 2022! If you’re interested to learn more about our project, keep your eyes peeled for an upcoming event.
Great Backyard Bird Count
We had the pleasure of having Yousif Attia of Birds Canada at our Adopt-a-Bird-Habitat and the Garden City Birdhouse Artist Residency. With his help, we were able to identify who our bird neighbors are while also documenting their numbers to later identify any trends in our habitat. For a closer look, see our short clip on our Garden City Birdhouse YouTube:
We thank you for your involvement and we hope to see you soon!
